A word from the Mayor
 The City of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu is proud to be associated with the International Balloon Festival.
This event has grown tremendously, and has become our city and our region's trademark. Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu is now known throughout Quebec, Canada, and even elsewhere.
The City of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu is the 11th largest in Quebec, 2nd in the Montérégie area, and the biggest population cluster city in the province.
Thanks to the International Balloon Festival, citizens of the other regions in Quebec, Canada, and elsewhere can now associate an image with the name "Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu". This image symbolizes tourism, its event-driven aspect, the promotional and organizational quality, as well as the hosting quality of our city.
When we visit other regions in Quebec, either for business or pleasure, and we mention where we are from, the person you are talking to smiles and he/she simply says: Hot air balloons!
Let us continue to take advantage of this force, to make our city and our region known even more. The International Balloon Festival is a source of inspiration for businesses, institutions, and organizations that wish to emulate such terrific development and success.
In the name of the municipal council, I invite you all to come to Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, during this event for "kids of all ages".

A word from the President
 In the name of administrative counsel of the Balloon Festival Corporation, I thank you for your visit at the 25th edition of the International Balloon Festival of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.
The success of this event lies in a little secret : for the nine days of the festival, a range of internationally renowned and up-and-coming artists, a wide variety of entertainment areas as well as 115 hot-air balloons of different shapes and colors are reunited to please kids of all ages. The success and notoriety of our festival lies in a quality organization. Behind such a grand event hides a dynamic team in constant search of original and varied activities. Be ready for many surprises during the event!
Join us at the site of the municipal airport in August 8 to 16 2009 to celebrate the magic of hot air balloons!

Thanks to the 2008 volunteers!
Each year, nearly 1,000 people work voluntarily at the International Balloon Festival of
Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu in various sectors, such as animation, service centers, pursuit teams, maintenance, and security. All these people are vital to the event's organization and participate in its resounding success.
This year again, the Festival invites those who want to live an enriching and educational work experience to take the challenge!
